After-School Cooking Classes

Our second 6-week after-school cooking session starts in one week! Classes are Tuesdays at 3:30-5pm at Old Salt Marketplace. Each week we will taste the cuisine of a different country while practicing our kitchen skills. Students will learn different cooking techniques, knife use and kitchen safety. Each class ends with us sitting down to enjoy a meal together.

Only THREE spots are left! Sign up today! Class starts Tuesday, January 26th.

Eating the parts of a plant!

I have been stretching my Turnip roots a bit these last few months and have begun teaching in a local preschool. My bi-monthly classes include lots of tasting new foods, vocabulary, and a little bit of off-key singing. I have worked for 14 years with elementary and middle-schoolers, but this is my first foray into preschool! I love it! They are so curious, chatty, and engaging!

birthday-party-images-2-1

We are booking our October, November, and December birthday parties now! Our time slots fill up quickly so plan ahead.

Our cooking birthday parties are a great way to kick off a new year! Turnip the Heat offers cooking birthday parties for kiddos ages 6 and older. We like to keep the groups small to make sure everyone can participate and have fun.

We love to plan a menu around the birthdays persons favorite foods (or books!!!).

Email turniptheheatcooking@gmail.com to learn more.

(We also do grown up celebrations!)

Dumpling Class

This will focus on the dumpling! Nearly every culture in the world has a version of the dumpling, delicious filling tucked into dough then steamed, boiled or fried! We will be busy stuffing, folding, cooking and dipping! Come hungry!

Menu:
Nepalese Momo dumplings
Empanadas with black beans and cheese
Sweet Moochi Dumplings
I have decided to add a Nepalese Momo dumpling to the menu and donate all profits from the class to Mercy Corp to help victims of the Nepalese Earthquake. My heart hurts for Nepal and I want to give back.
